River Crest of Trussville
(See some of River Crest's Amenities below)
River Crest Subdivision came into existence a few years ago when the Butler family decided to sell a parcel of their pastureland. This beautiful piece of property was well known to passersby on Roper Road, but unbeknownst to many, just beyond the ridge, flowed the Cahaba River. Cathy Morrison Freeman, a Trussville native and environmentalist, hearing that the property was on the market, became distressed to think that this section of the Cahaba River might become overdeveloped and destroyed. She decided to try to buy the property herself in an attempt to protect the river.
But Cathy needed a way to finance the project. Ironically, the only way to prevent overdevelopment was...a development. River Crest was born! She was able to convince her father, Bill Morrison, and various other family members, to pool their resources, and buy the land. The Morrison family envisioned a premier residential subdivision that involved only the land overlooking the river, and to the south, sloping away from the river. The Cahaba River watershed would be left virtually untouched, in its natural, pristine condition.
